Enhanced Debit Card Transaction Monitoring

debit cardEnhanced Debit Card transaction monitoring provides added protection for Bank of Washington debit card users. Bank of Washington ATM/Debit cardholders have found this additional fraud protection to be very beneficial and appreciate the steps we are taking to reduce the threat of ATM/Debit card fraud!

Suspicious or unusual transactions completed on Bank of Washington ATM/debit cards will generate an automated alert to the account holder. Accountholders should follow the prompts to verify the transaction in question and if it is legitimate, nothing further will occur. If it is not legitimate, the accountholder will be connected to a bankcard associate to further investigate the transaction. Two attempts will be made to all phone numbers associated with the ATM/Debit card. If the accountholder is not available to verify the transaction, the ATM/Debit card may be restricted from further use until contact is made.

If you receive one of these fraud alert messages and were not available to verify the suspicious transaction, or if your ATM/Debit Card has been restricted, you may contact us directly at 425-513-5501.

Other steps you can take to protect yourself from ATM/Debit card fraud are simple:
  • Review your account daily and report unauthorized transactions immediately.
  • Create a strong pin number. Easily guessed “weak” pin numbers are prime targets such as your birthday or repeating or sequential numbers.
  • Always maintain your pin number in a safe place and never with the ATM/Debit card. An estimated 1 of 11 people keep their pin numbers in their wallet alongside their ATM/Debit card, greatly increasing the potential for theft should the card be stolen.

Traveling soon? Notify us of your itinerary and dates of travel prior to departing. Currently, some regional areas and all countries are restricted and we must unrestrict them for your card prior to departure in order for you to have unrestricted use of your card during your travels.

Should you have any questions regarding this program, or if you would like to talk to us directly regarding your ATM/Debit card, call us on 425-513-5501 or contact your local branch directly.
